The Walt Disney Company welcomed its newest cruise ship - the Disney Wish - the first in the last decade since the Disney Fantasy (birthday: 2 Mar 2012) to join the fleet from Disney Cruise Line, at 1pm EST from Port Canaveral, Florida.
What is your wish, as you come aboard The Disney Wish? Mine is to eat as much chocolate-vanilla soft serve in the 5-day cruise but not retain any calories đ
The ship will feature brand new dining experiences like never before, including a Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience! Guests will be transported to the Kingdom of Arendelle and live in the magic as they meet Queen Anna and Kristoff whom are celebrating their engagement. Of course, no party is complete without Mr Sunshine himself, Olaf and Arendelle's most magical princess, Elsa.
Marvel fans will also be treated to an evening dinner packed with action zipping through the Quantum Realm! Yes, Ant Man and the Wasp will join guests in this brand new dining experience. Previous cruise programmes did see the likes of Captain America and Iron Man patrol through the hallways of other ships like the Disney Dream during Marvel Day at Sea but nothing like this. Oh did I mention there's even a Marvel Super Hero Academy on board?
Star Wars rebels can also meet their favourtie characters at the Star Wars Cargo Bay. Rey and Chewbacca will be there to greet new allies to join the Rebel Alliance. Can this ship get any cooler? While the two themed areas mentioned are for children, parents are welcome to be heroes or support the Resistance too by using the power of imaginationđ.
There's so much more going on I can't fit it into one article. Though trust me when I say once you go on a Disney Cruise, you can't look at any other cruise the same way. At least, I can't anymore haha. But honestly, my favourite part of this new cruise is the new additon to the ship's crew - Captain Minnie!
Yes, Captain Minnie alongside Captain Mickey will be at the helm of this new ship. What a promotion for our darling mouse!
On my first Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Dream, I actually got the chance to meet Captain Minnie. She looked so sharp in her uniform and was no short from fabulous. I was so excited for her and yes she was indeed an inspiration. Perhaps one day I'll set sail with Captain Minnie and Captain Mickey.
Disney first announced Captain Minnie's appearance back in April 2019 and later announced that she will be taking reins of the Disney Wish in 2021. Captain Minnie serves as an inspiration to women leaders in the maritime industry. She will also be such a role model to young girls, teaching them that we too can be great leaders of tomorrow. You go girl!
This cruise welcomes dreamers, believers and wish makers of all ages!
As CEO Bob Chapek says, "At Disney, making wishes come true is a definitive part of our heritage. The name 'Disney Wish' is a nod to the idea that anything is possible."
My second favourite thing about the Disney Wish - the godchildren. Every Disney ship has a godmother: The Disney Magic (1998) has Patty Disney, Disney Wonder (1999) has Tinker Bell, Disney Dream (2011) has Jennifer Hudson and Disney Fantasy (2012) has Mariah Carey. This time, in honour of Disney's partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation, there won't be a godmother but rather godchildren! This was such a thoughtful and sweet initiative by Disney.
