#NickelocityGoes: The Frozen Musical at its only stop in S.E.A!

Marvin: Elsa?

*knock knock kn-nn-ock knock*

Marvin: Do you wanna build a snowman?

*sings the song*

Eugene: Go away Marvin

Marvin: okay byeee

Me: Guys, are you okay? Is it you want to watch the Frozen Broadway Musical?

Them: ....mayybee?

And so, we went.

This wasn't my first musical but that definitely did not take away from the magical experience. After we took this adorable group shot and entered the main lobby area before entering the theatre, the first thing we noticed were - the kids in princess dresses and their mommies in matching outfit colours! It dawned on me that Frozen has become an icon through the decade between it's release in 2013 till today that even children whom (maybe) weren't even born when the movie came out, knew exactly who Elsa was. It's just INcredible.

The lobby area is where you can get refreshments, take some photos by the "FROZEN" ice sculpture & backdrop and even grab yourself some exclusive merchandise! I was on a budget so I didn't get anything but I was very tempted to get the photobook + musical guide combo at $30 - it's filled with beautiful photos of the cast and a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the musical which I think makes the best souvenir.

We were ushered to our seats about 10-15mins before the show began. Bear in mind, audience members are recommended to arrive 30mins before showtime.

As I'm writing this, I'm struggling to find the words to properly encapsulate the talent the cast had in portraying these iconic characters. There was great diversity in the cast chosen, both in musical/acting talent and in ethnic diversity. I really loved that they added to the original dialogue of the film, giving us a deeper look into the relationship between the characters that you can't really capture in an animated film. My faves were Olaf (Matt Lee), Kristoff (Brendan Xavier) and Anna (Sarah O'Conner) - the comedic timing, the sadness, frustration and witty moments, I vibed with them all!

Can I just give an extra shoutout to Matt Lee for remembering his lines, manipulating the Olaf puppet, serving the masterpiece "In Summer" AND masterfully deliver punchlines?! Round of applause to you good sir, he deserves a raise.

Another thing I really appreciated was the little easter egg dialogue lines from Frozen 2 that were sprinkled throughout the show. Keep an eye out for them! ;)

OMG the music! Where do I even begin? It is not uncommon that new music is added to a film soundtrack to add to the storytelling element. My favourite of the soundtrack is A Little Bit of You, sung by young Anna and Elsa; it's so endearing, pure and so full of love. It was also so great to see that Kristoff had an emotional ballad of his own in this version of the story too as he tries to process his emotions after Anna had inadvertently changed his life forever. In Frozen 2 we got to see Kristoff's emotionally vulnerable side atop of the normal masculine romantic partner role he normally plays. The full soundtrack is available on Spotify so you can bring the enchanting story along with you!

(They do sell the CD version of the soundtrack if I remember correctly, but Spotify's good enough for me :D)

There are only 4 more weeks worth of shows, dates and ticket prices can be found on the Marina Bay Sands website, click here for the link. We chose to sit at the Stalls (Ground Floor) in the purple section - pictured below - to get a good view but not be so close that you can't see the entire stage. Although, the front sections were good for other reasons too ;)

With that,

Conceal, don't feel, just go to the show, make one wrong move and everyone will know....that you missed this amazing musical!

(Yes I went there, the lames jokes. Indulge me)

Note: all forms of Photography and Videography are not allowed during the show, out of respect for the creators & cast of the show.

See ya real soon!

And remember your daily scoop of pixie dust! ;)
